Recieved my latest order of vinyl from the USA today & as usual it was packed perfectly, only thing was all the records inside the carton were soaking wet ,covers & all.

The Strange part is the actual cardboard carton they were packed in was dry as a bone & didn't show any sign of having been in water.

& no they travelled airmail, not by boat:-)

any more strange stories out there??

another one (not so strange)

I rang NZ post to see where my overdue order had got too.
The NZPost lady checked on her computer & said it was still sitting in a post office in the USA & hadn't been posted yet & that absolutely no way had it reached NZ.

Next day the order was delivered to my house.

I rang NZPost again & spoke to another NZPost worker who checked on her computer & assured me the order still hadn't left the USA & had positively not entered NZ.

No wonder people go "postal"!!!!

I worked as a mail deliverer/postal service for over a year. It's all human work/activity with packages that go thrue many many hands (you have no idea)I once had photos of a coffin with an old death lady in it falling out of an envelope.

For the above cases, sometimes things simply go wrong or get lost due to the massive amount of packages/post. We worked true thousands of kilos every day and that was only a very small office.. (sorting, selecting, delivering). Some other package on top (in for example a truck or airplane) could have leaked some fluid. The cardboard absorbed the fluid and dried again while the records remained wet..

sorry to disappoint congo bunny ;)
Sorry to hear what a difficult job it was for you "your mailman", being so busy in your work must have made the working week go by alot faster? Gotta look on the positive sometimes right?

Not really a strange tale but our mail man once left vintage reggae vinyl propped up against my front door, where anyone could have seen it and nicked it, but what’s more it spent all afternoon in blazing sunlight….. I felt very lucky that it wasn’t stolen or warped… I’m not a big fan of our mailman

You know you can probably claim for damage....
Depends who it was shipped with, ask the guys who sent it show they use, i'm sure it would be insured and must be worth some compensation....if u have the time to deal with it. Good Luck..
