yeh the rhino label definatley has to top the most worst reggae albums of all time!! looks like there in it purley for the money, i remember a terrible one called Lee'Scratch'Perry meets mad professor vol.1+2 i think, these where real bad! also Lee Perry meets Scientist at black ark studios.
From what i hear most of there cds don't even contain any music by the named artist!!! who are these guys??

Rhino 'IS' a weird label. The cover art/photography is generally so bad!
They do have a lot of legitimate releases though.

Rhino does reissues or compilations. So it's not really the label's fault if the music is bad.

Although (as my specialist recorddealer assured me) it's kind of a fakerelease (doesn't sound like scientist or perry and it's definetly no meeting!!) it's still a nice lp. As if that wasn't enough: my copy has a (fake?) signature of lee perry on the cover saying "jah love, scratch" WTF???

i hate to say it, but LEE PERRY MEETS BULLWACKIE IN SATAN'S DUB on the ROIR label is just flat out terrible. with the exception of the track "OH LA LA DUB," which was recorded with actual musicians at black ark, every other song is just weak as hell. no bass, all digitized beats, all synthesizers, no real horns, drums, HELL, real musicians! not to mention a bunch of nonsensical (even for PERRY) bullshit and samples from tv shows thrown in at random. really bad stuff, avoid at all costs. the only cool thing about it is the title.

interesting post istvan!! i actually bought that one on cassette back in 1990 when ROIR were trying to establish themselves..i recall a track where Perry said"Marcus Garvey, lightning and thunder, Marcus Garvey the lion of Judah"..and lots of gibberish from Perry thrown in..the latter feature is a major drawback/risk whenever i contemplate buying Perry stuff. He ranges from abysmal to great.Scientist hasn't really done a bad release i feel. For me the dreadful, tinny, cack releases on Rhino are the very worst.
