Unpolished is my favorite Midnite album, simple mix yet so powerful. Not RA material though.

ufffff, Ras Mek Peace, now thats roots. That was the first Midnite album I heard, been a fan ever since. By not RA material I meant that it wasn't recorded before 85', which is what most people discuss in this forum. Bless!

I agree Ras Mek Peace is a great album, definitely in my top 20 best reggae albums of all time. What I don't understand is the hype over the rest of Midnite's recordings. Nothing comes close. Unpolished is fine, ut not great and all the rest seems out of a recipe book, i.e not very creative/surprise/distinctive. I say Ras Mek Peace deserves a vinyl release as well by the way. The rest can stay in digital format. PS: Midnite also needs help on their album cover art. Photoshop at its worse.

well... i think the "hype" is due mainly to the singer voice, vaughn benjamin's style is unique and considering that the guy released well over 300 songs in 10 years i still think there's quite consistent diversification among them... moreover, if u like ras mek peace you should be also aware that lyrics are far beyond the rest of nowadays scene... since it's somekind of a holy book for me i have the dream to release it in 200gr audiophile vinyl edition for the 25th years of its release, that will be in 2024...
midnite never had a major behind them (if not VP for treasure this year), so let them stick to their poorly assembled iconographic cd covers, that always brings the passion of homemade things...
@alonso: yes i didnt misunderstood u, i strongly believe that ras mek peace should be checked out by peeps in this forum because it has a very vintage original sound, of course u know the history behind it...b4 reverb and without delay!! who dared so much nowadays in reggae??
