I've just heard Barry Brown for the first time (the song "Step It Up").

Does any one have any recommendations regarding Barry Brown's albums? Which are essential?

Thanks.

I don't like far east that much except one or two songs. some good compilations can be found, maybe is this the best way. My prefered songs are on the trojan boxset rastafari : "enter the kingdom of zion" is just fantastic

pretty much everything with this man is just great. a personal favourite is "Cool Pon Your Corner".

"Rich Man Poor Man" is a great collection of songs but the sound quality is bad though his cover of Peter Tosh's "Burial" is just wicked, I love that tune.

"Barry Brown meets Cornell Campbell" and "Barry Brown & Johnny Clarke Sings Roots & Culture" cant fail.

The only one I got from Barry Brown is Far East and the best compliment I can give is "OK".
Although it sounds good - it has Sly, Robbie, Scully, etc - it doesn't have one single GREAT TRACK. It lacks of outstanding compositions.
