I understand from reading about Rastafari that Rasta women are not allowed to smoke the chalice. Is this true and if so why?

Maybe they feared that the women would become to stoned and lazy to cook and do the laundry and stuff ;-) I guess it's like asking why muslim women are not allowed to visit a football game at a stadium. It's a rule made by men. A rule made long before emancipation arrived in most countries. Sad, of cause.

I think maybe it wouldn't be in keeping with the Italy nature of my life I wouldn't want to be out of control when looking after the kids animals and my better half.
I think the chalice and the spirituality that comes from that is a mans thing.
I follow my own spiritual path.

thats interesting viewpoint Sally. Many Rastas would argue that the 'Erb is part and parcel of an Ital life. Its interesting that there is a dichotomy between the western view of ganja as a "drug" that causes loss of control, paranoia and ultimately addiction compared to the eastern (e.g India, morrocco, himalayas etc)where it is a means of accessing higher realms of spiritually.
From what you say you seem to have a very traditional role in your famiy "looking after the kids animals and my better half". May I ask what spiritual path you follow?
My own view is that ganja has the ability to liberate us from the confines and restrictions of society which aims to pigeonhole us in set "roles" which then define us, and access deeper levels of our consciousness(something we are not encouraged to do either in school or later in life). You then realise that the pillars of society are built on the daily suffering of the "workers"- or slaves if you like-who are being used as fodder for a class elite that does not want change but rather to uphold a rigid set of values that only benefits them.
The establishment then pushes negative views about so-called "drugs" (im not referring to hard drugs like Heroin &Cocaine)which in turn cause people to have negative reactions like fear and paranoia.

Greetings dubaddikt
I cannot disagree with anything you say at all and I believe in the In the therapeutic meditative and enlightening aspect of lambsbread.

Here's the but ,it is just not for me the simple reason is that if you were to ask those close to me they would say that I am already very , if not too emotionally sensitive and according to my last appraisal at work(I am an end of life /palliative care nurse) very emotionally intuitive if I started using sensei I would probably go over the edge.
I prefer the meditative qualities of a big dub baseline courtesy of Tubby ,bunny Lee niney and the ital lyrics (my song when things get rough is sizzle guide over us)
My spirituality is this, my heart is rasta my love is rasta my life is rasta and I believe simply that the good you do will come after you .
So try to hurt no living thing follow a path you believe in treat your fellow man equally and know that while you have bread on the table a roof over your head you are truly blessed.

I don't apologise for my belief in taking a traditional role my philosophy is if the boys don't mind fixing my laptop carrying the shopping up my stairs or cleaning the windows then I have no problem cooking and looking after them.

Greatest respect to you for the dificult job you do. I understand absolutely that collie does not suit everyone, particularly the sensitive natured among us. Also i would say that the tendency in our society to regularly "get wasted" at the weekend does not further our spritiuality one bit, but is rather a sort of socially-accepted pressure valve that we are allowed to release evey so often.Collie should be used wisely and carefully to reap any of its benefits. I work as a mental health nurse in a recovery unit and many of our clients are young men who have smoked too much sensi or drunk too much alcohol and "gone off the rails" so to speak.
i cannot fault your sentiments and beliefs. My original question relating to rasta women still awaits an answer though...
thank you
ites and respect

I am not often speechless but you left me so!
Anyway greetings to you...
I cannot answer the question on rasta ladies not being allowed to light up jah fire
I think we as you so rightly point out must divorce weed/skank from the high grade of true meditative enlightenment as you see in your also challenging job the harm it does to young people can be devastating and in my humble opinion one of the reasons high grade ganja should be legalised.
To perhaps answer question it could be that we ital sisters can make pretty good hash cake ,bushtea and one or two other goodies that lead us to a reflective meditative peace love and unity space ...
I've may have given a politicians answer there dubaddikt but you are welcome to cross examine me again.........!!

Peace and love :-)
