I dont want to put a downer on the forum, but sometimes you feel down and it feels comforting to indulge that sadness.

The mission of this thread is to share songs which you find particularly emotive.

Ive always found Joe Higgs' solo acoustic version of There's a Reward for Me on Roots Rock Reggae doc very powerful:

And the song that inspired the creation this thread was Confirmed Reservation by Gregory Isaacs:

Come on RA, make me weep like a pickney!

Yes, that whole section with Joe Higgs is unforgettable.

"How Long" Pat Kelly (without the strings)
"River Jordan" Sugar Minott
"Love Crisis" Black Uhuru
"Don't Give Up" Barrington Levy
"Pick Up the Pieces" Royals

The Joe Higgs is unforgettable! Another one that tears me up is "Black Man's Pride" by Alton Ellis and even though it's origianlly an American Soul tune both Delroy Wilson and Ken Boothe's versions of "Is It Because I'm Black" have the same effect!

Linton Kwesi Johnson - Sonny's Lettah (Anti-Sus Poem)

Used to get me every time, although these days I'm a little stronger when I listen to it
