Ites ;
I deeply love this song from johnny osbourne and also Nyah man which are on some compilations. I'd like to know if some of you know other songs from the same recording sessions, or with the same vibe. I saw the ready or not compilation on roots archives, are the other songs as good ? Any idea ?
Blessings
ps : I have the Truth and Rights album which I love, but the sound is not as rootsy

A Riley produced tune. The dub is on the "Techniques In Dub" comp on Pressure Sds or "Meditation Dub" original LP.
There is a Osbourne LP produced by Riley => Warrior. A good LP IMO, but I think the tune on the LP were produced few years after "Purify Your Heart" (which is one of my fave Osbourne tune BTW). Inflation ont the Warrior LP is also a killer tune.

yes Wareika I agree Warrior is very very good album. I don't know why only the "Truth and Rights" album is always mentioned as Johnny O at his best.
You can get Warrior on cd combined the "come back darling" album at a good price.

hi my friend, must agree that 'Purify your heart' is a true classic, and what is really killing, Johnny Osbourne recorded two versions of it for Winston Riley back in 1972, one with absolute fantastic horns and one without them, but both versions are great.
the 'Ready or not' informations in the Roots Archives are not complete. This is in fact a compilation album.
Tracklist:
Johnny Osbourne - ready or not
Johnny Osbourne - my name is man
Johnny Osbourne - purify your heart
Johnny Osbourne - nyah man
Max Romeo - nobody's child
Prince Far I - deck of cards
Max Romeo - sexy sadie
Techniques - evening news
Alcapone Jnr. - scout call
Techniques - watermelon man
hole version
deck of cards (version)
produced by Winston Riley

NYah Man was released in 7 inch form also as "Leaving BAbaylon" on the Wildcat label with a Rod Willaims tune on the A side.
Also, many killer Riley productions including the aforementioned Osbourne tunes saw release here in Toronto on the JamCan label (many of the Riley tunes were only released here).
easy, k in Canada.

Don't miss the version of "purify your heart" produced by Jammy on the water Pumping LP. That is a rough version. also, the Linval Thompson produced version of Nyah Man, which goes to the wailing Souls-face the devil riddim-Hard!! aDambom
