Linval Thompson- Six Babylon (First World)

Post by The Gorgon »

This updated version which I had since the early 90s, I was just wondering what riddim is this. I know I heard it before, but I just cant even remember the artists that rode on this baseline, If i knew the name of the rid dim, I would really help me out.
heres a link to the sample.

Jah Thomas borrowed a lyric from Hank Williams ("Hey good looking, what's cooking?") for his "What's Cooking" (Midnight Rock 7", 1980) on the same "Six Babylon" riddim.

The horn riff sounds like the Revolutionaries' Speak Easy/Sudden attack, which is an update of In Cold Blood, I believe.

So the riddim is goes by licking stick or in cold blood. the Revoutionaties use this riddim but call it sudden attack. Sugar minott use the riddim on his song call boss boss on fatis burrel'. kings & lions label. Dillinger also uses it on a song call race day on his cb200 album. Are there other song that that some artusts have done. I know there are a quite a few just cant remember them off hand. By the way, thanks for the posts
