and on their news letter they say

So perhaps in 2013 we have something to look forward to other than the usual Lee Perry re-re-re-releases

I don't know if any of these releases are my taste, haven't had a chance to listen to the sounds clips yet, I'm guessing that they are quite early reggae sounds, looking at the covers

Still good on you Trojan for releasing some "new" stuff, (new to me any way)

Also I notice that they have the MP3 release of Keith Hudson's Torch of Freedom, so does that mean that Hot Milk only got the rights to release it as CD or are Sanctuary releasing the MP3 on Hot Milk's behalf?

Hey Congo, Hot Milk here.

We licensed "Torch Of Freedom" from Universal. As with most agreements when licensing from majors, they retain the digital rights. So we are not associated with Trojan (which is owned by Universal). We only have rights to the physical product, so if you want to help Hot Milk, buying the physical product makes us smile!!!

I would definitely support you over universal, but I'm afraid Keith Hudson will always be low on my want list. I'll look forward to your next release

and i'd like to add.....that i've been 'hot milk' on reggae message boards going on 14 years now (anyone remember RMR? or the original Blood & Fire board with the little flickering candles?)...so hot milk HERE.

I don't know if those three albums can be called "trying harder". Nice early ska/boogie albums, but not anything to get excited about, IMO. Now that Trojan/Island are the same company, they are sitting on a *vast* vault of music that needs a thoughtful reissue program.

I do appreciate what Trojan is doing with their limited edition 7" singles. Some pretty cool tunes on those singles.

The "In Time" album' of cimarons must be reissue by Trojan, this is one of the best album from this label.

Trojan records had better make the most of the Island/Universal link up at the moment. Island/Universal bought up EMI records, and as part of the conditions for the merger to take place they have to sell off Sanctuary records, who happen to own Trojan. Now, the question us reggae fans might want to ask ourselves is who would want to buy Sanctuary records and keep Trojan going re releasing their back catalogue to a limited market? Especially if that includes having to do licensing deals with a rival company?
