Hey yall, glad to find this spot because I need the help of some serious dub heads. My old computer just died and on it was one particular song which is like one of my favorite ever dub tracks, but I never knew the name of it since when I downloaded it, it was just "track 8" or whatever.

Its a very recognizable song if you have heard it. I aint sure if its him, or him and the Aggrovators, but heres what I do know:. He sings a few lines of lyrics (and uses the melody) from the song "Remember Me" by Diana Ross.

Lyrics as follows: "Bye baby, see you around, didnt I tell you I wouldnt hold you down. Take good care of yourself, ya hear? Dont let me hear about you shed no tear...(then he says something unintelligible, I think somthing like "remember....as the love fades") and then back to "bye baby, see you around, I already know about the new love you found"

It may be called Mobster Dub, but I aint sure. I can't find any copies of it to listen to in order to tell if its the right song or not. I hope somebody can help me out finding the correct name of this song and what record I could find it on. All my google searching just leads me in circles so I need someone who knows the right name of it to help me ID and track it down. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the singer version is Johnny Clarke - Remember Me. I don't know where you can find the dub though.

It wouldn't be King Tubby singing, King Tubby only remixed existing tunes done by others. In this case it appears to have been 'Remember Me' by Johnny Clarke that he remixed.

and it wouldn't be a "sample", so to speak.

there were lots and lots of Jamaican covers of American, UK and international pop songs - probably ten to one against original material.

"Remember Me" is a Bunny Lee production, remixed by King Tubby or one of his engineers (in 1976, at that time might have been Phillip Smart or possibly singer Pat Kelly if Tubby was too busy with his other activities). it was on Clarke's "Girl I Love You" LP but it might have just been an album cut.
