Hi guys

I woud like to share with this interview that don carlos gave to the brazilian newspaper folha de são Paulo in 1995.

The article talks about 2 black uhurus playing at the same time in brazil (that lawsuit issue which duckie won)
I became very disappointed with a don carlos`s comment, which I translate in the following post:

``Da nossa parte, seria ótimo ter o Duckie de volta", diz Carlos, logo depois de defender que ele e Dennis têm mais direito ao nome por causa da ``nítida inferioridade musical" do ex-líder.
Translation:
“from our opinion, would be great to have duckie back”, says don carlos, shortly after saying that he and Garth dennis have more rights to own the name black uhuru because of the “well-marked inferiority of the ex-leader (duckie)”

I think you should quote him in his original language.
What did he say in english or jamaican originally?
( not after being translated twice)
Did you do the interview yourself?

There's nothing worse than seeing two old people from an old band fighting for who gets the rights to travel the world playing greatest hits for medium-sized crowds of old people.

Funky, but do recall that if one of them gets to use the name of the band that used to play for large sized crowds of young people, they get a better chance to play for a larger than medium sized crowd of people (old, or young), hence make mo' money

Now, it indeed gets better when the artist focus on the quality of the music he makes today, no longer requiring the band name that made him and his fellow mates famous yesterday. Example: Clinton Fearon!

I wonder what he really said in english cause it doesn't make any sense translated.
It wouldn't be the first time that an interviewer doesn't understand a jamaican accent.

Yeah, It makes sense:

Don is just saying that duckie has no talent as a singer, and thats why he (don carlos) has the right to own black uhuru`s name, instead of duckie.

He said a similar thing in a interview (in english) to united reggae:

"duckie couldn´t manage the harmonies, Duckie couldn`t sing alone, etc..."
