Select Cuts From Blood & Fire

The three volumes of 'Select Cuts from Blood & Fire' released on the Select Cuts label from 2000 onwards of remixes of material from the Blood & Fire label's catalogue are brilliantly inventive and contemporary yet respectful remixes by the likes of Kaleidoscope,Sounds From The Ground and Dubphonic of songs by the likes of Big Youth, Impact All Stars and Horace Andy. Why haven't these releases become legendary and why haven't they spawned more releases of remixes of original 70's roots reggae. If any of you know these releases then I'd love to know if you know of anything else that comes anywhere close to paying such exciting and truly inspirational homage to Jamaica's finest. Also can anyone fill me in on the background to these releases - why didn't Blood & Fire release this material themselves? How was it decided which artist's work would be remixed? Have they received royalties? How was it decided who would be given the privilege of doing the remixes? I can't believe people weren't falling over themselves and trampling on others for the chance to do them. Any plans for further releases? If you haven't heard these releases then seek them out now, you'll be glad you did.
