Yes I,

I have a killer muzik I came across on a cassette, I don't know what it's called, but I think maybe it's called "Jah Love I" or something (based on the chorus). It's one singer, but there are a couple of harmonizers on the chorus (Jah Love I). Some of the words go:

I was born in the ghetto
Raised in the ghetto
Fighting for my life
Working the coal mines day & night
Just to catch a vibes

Jah Love I
Jah Love I
Jah Love I so
(repeat)

Some of my bredrens
And my sistrens
They end up in a penitentiary
But through the love of the almighty one
I man, still a fight them

Jah Love I.....

Please let me know if anyone knows who this is. If there's a site on the web that can help me, this is it!

Jah Guide.

I'm not positive, but I think that song is called Jah Live by a group called Hands & Hearts.

If it's the track i'm thinking of it's absolute murder.

It's by Freddie McKay and as you say, the title is "Jah Love I". Released on both 12" and 7", the only difference being the version.

JJ is correct. Original by Freddy McKay. Recut by by David Isaacs in the late 70's on Phil Pratt produced 12" on Wildflower label.

The 7" of "Jah Love I" shows up on ebay reasonably often, but always sells for quite a lot. A copy went last week for $117.50 for instance.

The 12" hardly ever shows up though. It's backed with "Caught You Red Handed", another really good tune.
