Hi
Does anyone know this album?
King Tubby's Tribute to Augustus Pablo
http://www.amazon.co.uk/King-Tubbys-Tri ... stus+pablo
It's on the attack label, the tracks look re-named to me I was just wondering if it is a bogus album, like maybe not King Tubby or Augustus Pablo?
The dubbing certainly sounds quite modern to me so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a modern remix

Hi Congo
That album, judging by the song titles, looks bogus to me, although some of the tracks do have an authentic 70`s feel to them. I guess it really comes down to whether or not you like the music itself. I personally would give it a miss especially as there is plenty of great genuine Augustus Pablo music available.

Hey thanks Rootsman
I think your right that it's at least a bit suspect.
Your also right about buying it if you like it. Google play had it for 4.99 and I enjoyed the preview clips enough to buy it for that price.
Some of the filters and delays sounded too smooth and modern for it to be an original remix to my ears
I guess along the lines of many of our opinions on Jamaican Recordings release, if it's not Pablo and Tubbs I'd be interested to know who it really is.
I think I recognize most of the rhythms as being original 70's productions, although one appears to be the Abyssinians so I'm not sure how Bunny Lee ended up with the rhythm for that track

Listened to this properly last night it's drenched in a modern sounding echo with decay that changes speed, and a panning stero effect. Neither of which screams Tubbys to me. Likewise the melodica sounds as though it sits on top of the rest of the mix, though it's hard to tell with all the effects this release is drenched in reverb and delay.
Nice mellow stuff, I doubt it it what it says on the tin though, I suspect it's the same chap that mixes all the Jamaican Records stuff

LOL deed he did and whoever mixed this outlived them both
Good point though I hadn't thought of that, it's casts even more doubt onto the legitimacy of this release

In reality, I'd say that it would be far more accurate to title this as "Bunny Lee's Tribute to Bunny Lee".

I think I'd be more likely to buy something with a title like that....

Brilliant yes!
I wonder why he doesn't just label this releases as what they are, I'm sure he would more respect that way
