I assume you mean Black Jade - " Contempo " ? If it is , I have only heard this on YouTube . At least one of the members here at Roots Archives has it on vinyl , it would be nice to have this on pukka CD .

Aye AT, it's a real skull crusher - almost claustrophobic at times! KT meets the Upsetter at the Grass Roots of Dub comes close in parts i.e. 'Crimewave' but this is deepest darkest rhythm all the way through.

Yeah. It's a beautiful dub set. Too bad the pressing isn't the best. But when the sub goes deep then the little crackle disappears into oblivion.

Don't know if I would describe it as a "skull crusher" or even deep and heavy... Reminiscent of some of Lee Perry's minimal dub works from the mid 1970s.

Not sure I'm having that having that Mick - I don't think any of Scratch's mid seventies work bears comparison on the heavyweight dub Richter scale ......and I love Scratch!!! What might you put forward as an example?

"Is there deeper, heavier 70's dub album than the Black Jade LP 'Contempo'?"
Not that I've heard, no. My speakers/subs can't even handle some of the lower registers at decent volume. And most of the tracks are slow, plodding, rumbling...so heavy it hurts!
No other album (that I've heard) is consistently that MASSIVE from start to finish-- it's almost tiring to listen to as there is basically no respite from the onslaught of bass.
Of course, there are some individual tracks that I find equally heavy, one that comes to mind is the incredible "Dub Station" from Tommy Mccook Meets KT at Dub Station:

Well put mate - it's almost an endurance test just to sit through it & the better the kit the heavier and more oppressive it sounds. Wish I knew a bit more of it's origins.
