I really like A LOT the "Black Slavery Days-The Sound of St. Anns" and the B&F comp "129 Beat Street"...after my taste they are too good to be true.
Do you know any albums similar to these?? it doesn´t have to be showcase or vocal-dub cuts, just similar vibes, nice horns...

Thanks and greets to all of you

All Jack ruby' productions from this era have that vibe, we already talked about Jack Ruby Hi Fi, which is great (peace time with ken booth , is excellent) and Jack Ruby presents his Black Foundation. This last one is amazing too, with similar bands like the black survivors. It is a Heartbeat CD (don't think it exists in LP). A must have, although the song black slavery days can't be equalized . Pure power;

JR Presents Black Foundation does indeed exist on vinyl. Slightly shorther than the CD though ... or even much shorter with only 12 of 16 tracks I think.

Hi pf,

I agree with Benjamin, all those Jack Ruby productions he listed are excellent. You can also get the "Black Foundation in Dub" counterpart to the above album also on Heartbeat CD.

I would assume you have "Marcus Garvey " by Burning Spear as that is in a similar vein as was recorded round the same period as "Black Slavery Days and features the same singers who appear as The Arrows and Original Survivors on the "Black Slavery Days"

Also Roy Cousins Phase 1 productions from the late seventies are all worth checking out. Try

"We are getting bad - The Sound of Phase 1"

"Children of Jah"

Don`t think you can go wrong with them. They features vocals followed by DJ / dubs, and include extended versions of Chantells "Desperate Times, "Natty Supper" "Children of Jah" "Hey you" and "Waiting in the Park"

Respect

Dave

Just seen the Jack Ruby produced "Man In The Hills" -http://www.roots-archives.com/release/28-in FOPP, Shaftesbury Avenue for £5 (brand new). Surely it doesn't get any better than "Door Peep".
