I am hoping that someone here can help me out with the real story on the LP. I was searching for it on google and came across a link to Amazon, where there was an mp3 only release called "Jah Life In Dub" I purchased it and upon listening noticed that there are a number of dubs from the "Big Showdown 1980" album. The rest of the tracks were dubs of other Barrington Levy songs that are exclusive to this record.
I am hoping that somebody here will be able to let me know if this is the REAL "Jah Life In Dub" as listed here:

the real "Jah Life In Dub" album is coming out soon on DKR.

It collects dubs of Barrington Levy tracks mixed by Scientist. The album was not released back in the days, although Jah Life had printed thousands of sleeves, which DKR is using as Jah Life had stored those for 30-odd years.

Jah Life had given some of those sleeves to Germain when Germain put out a dub album which has nothing to do with the real Jah Life in Dub album, hence the confusion for the last 30 years...

In any case, expect some heavy bass and drum and some Scientist trademark effects.

Brilliant. As are all the DKR reissues.

The walls of " rarity " are a comin' down . At long last it's not just about deeeep pockets , big up to the labels that are allowing this to happen .

Well, I just checked amazon to get the link, and it's no longer available. I just downloaded it less than a month ago, so they must have removed it recently.
In regards to the upcoming DKR release of the same name, I am hoping that it's different, as I said quite a few of the tracks on the version I have a repeated on the Big Showdown LP. The rest are also Barrington Levy tunes dubbed by Scientist (99% sure it's Scientist...)

it's 10 Scientist dubs to Barrington Levy.

3 are the same mixes that later appeared on "Big Showdown", the other 7 are previously unreleased mixes, including a dub to the song "Jah Life" which has never been released before anywhere.

the info about the jackets, Germain LP, etc. are correct as Guillaume recounted. i posted this info on BAF a good while ago when the LP first sold on ebay for a huge amount.

Really looking forward to seeing this one available in the States, hopefully soon.

+1 to AnorakTrev's comment- keep the (no longer) rare dubs coming!

trust me it's bad! Thick-as-molasses drum and bass mixes. On this one DKR really aced it. I've been playing my copy a number of times and it shakes and quakes the house, just like it should.
