I feel like this has probably been asked before, but I can't find too much searching the forum

but Hugh Roy and U-Roy are the same person right?

Hugh Roy Junior and Hugh-Roy Henry are the same person?

but Hugh Roy & U-Roy is not the same person as Hugh Roy Jr & Hugh-Roy Henry?

or is Hugh-Roy Henry a separate third person?

I'm sorry to ask, but it's driving me a little crazy trying to understand

Hugh Roy and U-Roy are indeed the same person.

U Roy Jr was another toaster who presumably died in the mid seventies, his style was a bit of a mix between U Roy and Dennis Alcapone, if you would ask me.

Hugh Roy Henry is a singer. I don't know much about him, except for the handful of songs he did.

chuckles, not sure I've heard of Hugh Brown.

When I first started collecting reggae some 15 years ago I-Roy, I-Kong, I-Threes, U-Roy, U-Brown etc had my head in a bit of a spin I bet there are a tonne more of these

I think that the "Hugh Roy" thing was just an error by the guy who wrote the sleeve notes for an album around 1969/70.

I'm pretty certain I read it somewhere - quite possibly in the notes to a CD re-issue.

cool, thats funny my daughter can't pronounce the word gigantic she says gimantic so I guess if I could sing I would have to be Ras Gimantic... although then people might think I was boasting about the size of my doodle... back to the drawing board on the reggae artist name
