Origin of dub sirens

Greetings Massive,
Do anybody know where dub sirens originate from?
1.Who used it first?
2.When was it used for the first time?
3.Was it King Tubby who started it?
4. What is the point of using a siren?
5. I am a university student planning to build a dub siren, does anyone have schematics and other useful informations?

Dreadrecords, I am interested to know what books you would research. What books would you suggest for learning more about reggae history, facts and stuff?
