Thanks Lion

What an absolutely incredible voice.

Do you know if it is the version on "Stanley Beckford & The Turbines" - Big Bamboo - http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3 ... ight=24186

Hi Lion

Just listened to it and it definitely isn't the version on "Big Bamboo". It's a calypso track.

It isn't this either - The Starlights Featuring Stanley Beckford - Soldering - http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2 ... ight=37068

Is there a more recent Tony Robinson produced version out there somewhere?

I search for the lady produced by Tony Robinson.

But it's a version Stanley Beckford song.

When I Roy voiced his 1975 hit "Welding," in which he claims to know "what the young gal want", Youth answered back with the correcting "Natty Dread A Wha She Want."

a part of the story

One step forward.

Hi Lion

Sorry, yes you are right it is Stanley Beckford. Thank you for that.
I just wondered if you knew where I could find the track that Big Youth is toasting over as, although it is the same song, it doesn't sound like the track "Young Gal" on Stanley Beckford & The Turbines - Big Bamboo or "Soldering" on The Starlights Featuring Stanley Beckford - Soldering.

Again thanks for the info. He has the most amazing voice.

yes man,
same tune.
the straight answer to stanley who sings :
" she don't want natty dreadlock cause him
smoke to much ganja : soldering ah what the young girl want "(something like that). The
soldering thing is a sexual image.

Big Youth did not really appreciate as
Rasta had become, just like the Black Panthers,
the symbol of the strong blackman. Which, of
course, includes sexual power.

Thanks for the feedback, but what I really wanted to know is where I can find the track that Big Youth is actually DJing over on the album Dread Locks Dread as it doesn't appear to be either of the versions I have managed to find.

It definitely isn't the track from "Big Bamboo", but, on reflection, could be the version from the Starlights album "Soldering" if they have just taken his vocal and laid it over the Tony Robinson produced Skin, Flesh and Bones riddim.

Does anyone know if this is the case?

Thanks.

I've ordered the Starlights album anyway as I desperately need more of Stanley singing. What a voice!
