Hi, could anyone give me a name of an artist or group who has a third world/black uhuru sound, u know like dub or electro reggae. i´ve been searching a lot,

Don't think anyone really could match the Uhuru sound, could they?

I saw them live at Glastonbury in 1982 (I think) and they really rocked.

Never really got into Third World though... Have I missed something?

Saw both Uhuru and Third World a couple of times in the late 70's/early 80's (not at the same gig, I hasten to add). Uhuru were awesome as expected.
Third World were good, but are little "souly" for my likes.

Yep, I also saw Third World about that time at a relatively small venue and I felt the same, they always struck me as pop-reggae, whereas Uhuru always provided the hardest, toughest reggae even if it was in some ways quite a commercial sound compared to some reggae.

I had even bought some Third World Lps back then but only ever listened to them a few times before getting bored. Whereas I can still play Uhuru's 'I love Sellasie-I' 10 times in a row without getting bored.

When I arrived at Glastonbury all those years ago I had no idea where the stage was (given the amount of ganga I had smoked that night I had no idea where much was!) But I was guided to the stage by the sublime sound of that superb track flowing out across the Pilton Vale. It was an unforgettable experience.

ok thanks guys, if u like black uhuru, u should listen to "anthem" the album. What dub album do u guys think is the greatest of all time?

But I agree, anthem is great, or if you like CDs, there's a great three disk compilation called "Black Uhuru, Liberation, The Island Anthologies"

It's a wicked bundle of some of the roughest and toughest BU tracks.

yes i know the Liberation, The Island Anthologies" album, and i love it too(tu). But ive like to find another artist who has the same rythm and instruments like BH,

check out sly and robbie prods. from the early 80's. also don carlos and michael rose solo stuff for black uhuru sound.I can't really help on the third world front as i'm not a fan..

you can find some sly & robbie productions that sound pretty much like uhuru's first albums... or even others that sound like sly & robbie's taxi style... to name a few "ini kamoze-ini kamoze";"don carlos-suffering(prophecy cd)"; "don carlos-harvest time";"wayne smith-youthman skanking" also "voice of progress" (junior reid) or lacksley castell... all of them have riddim tracks that sound like uhuru's, although the vocals are totally different...

thank's god there's nothing else like third world!!! one is already enough!!! lol

how come u guys? i think third world has there one stuff u know? if u like to dance or just move, liste to some songs.... i dont know what songs u been listen to. download greatest hits of TW
