TOTAL DECEPTION!.... one of the albums i regret i've bought... sounds more like a lovers-country songs... although some have nice lyrics, they're all acoustic in a non-reggae whatever is called style...
my opinion though...
Got find his (few) 7" gems... like the well-heard on one of roots garden's shows, tune called "prophecy"... but i don't have any idea when was recorded, who was the backing band, neither the year... all i know is that is absolutely KILLER!
More info aprecciated...
Blessings,

Agreed. Ina di yard is a terrible album and a waste of money. Come to think of it I'm not a big fan of any of his releases including the 45s.

Hi!
Does anyone know anything bout the album which should be released on that Japanese label?
NO, DON´T TALK BOUT INNA DE YARD, I DON`T WANNA HEAR DAT YARD TING NO MORE cause thats not what I´m looking for. It`s a shame - top ja musicians inna de yard and dem playing like a music beginner during his first lessons. SHAME. I know they can do better.
Anyway, some news on that Japanese ting? Or not?
Thx, cheers
I-Lion....roaring...

Why don't you e-mail Chinna and ask him. By the way Kiddus-I 'Inna de Yard' recordings have been critically acclaimed. How many roots artists still recording today have something relevant to say in 2006? not many i'll tell you. To say Chinna, Alphonso Craig, Winston Mcanuff, Cedric Myton, Johnny Moore et al are playing 'like a music beginner during his first lesson' is laughable. If you truly believe that, then you know nothing about music. Inna De Yard is a milestone, moving Roots music forward and adding a freshness, and dare i say finding new audiences which can only be a good thing.

ites deh
totaly agree with dorsetdread
what will Kiddus I tink reading your comments about such beautifull recordings....
bless to those guys from Makasound bringing back the roots music and giving atention to those forgotten artists.the Inna de yard has also an interview with himself dat yu should see also.
i just love the inna de yard series,of course they are not to jump and etc they are to feel it and to show roots music in their origins and pure.at least show some respect for the singers and players of instruments who contribute for what reggae is now....
if yu no like it ok just say yu no like but don't treat dem like childs in the business.Like i read they are top Ja musicians.
dats my opinion...
and for dat japanese release i'm waiting since 2005 never saw if came out.Who knows Kiddus will come around and see this topic.
respect everytime

Totally agree...
Lion, You should not have heard The Viceroys 'Inna de Yard' to say that, it is one of the most beautiful of the collection...
Now, music&taste is a debatable subject...There's kinds of music for everyone, but you can't say that they sound like begginers or that they're awful. It's just AUTHENTIC, and i do believe that it's not 'commercial authenticity', the performers would not have made these records if they didn't believe in it...
Bless

Hi!
Please...don`t get me wrong now. Makasound is a label - they want to earn money on their products. OK, why not? Makasound often is gloryfied. They do a solid work and that`s it. Milestones in roots music have already been set years ago. Most of the forum readers were not even born in those days. Definately inna de yard is no milestone. It seems like somebody tried to warm up an old, cold soup. Not my taste. Lots of respect to ja top musicians - no doubt about it. I know when music is full of quality and i know when it is not. I played my own stuff to Ijahman what put a big smile on his face, we opened 2 shows for the diamonds years and years ago and diamonds & audience love dat. Nah tell me me nah know nothing bout music. Of corse you can, but please allow my grinning.
Yes, ...what will Kiddus think by reading these lines? How about" I gotta release my album soon. Fans dem waiting".
No, didnt see Viceroys in this series. But dem big. Would like a new album by dem. Ghetto vibes seems not to be their own work.
But one thing is for sure: roots music haffi continue especially in these days!
Respect,
I-Lion
