Is it me or am i seeing a growing nmber of reggae stars that used have dread turn baldhead

for example

- jah thomas

- U Brown

- Gregory Issacs

- Papa Malcolm Jr.

- I Van Matie

Why? i dont get it.

Why cut off their beautiful locks

was it just a faze of the 70's / 80's for some artists to have it or does it really stand for something.

I n I have dreadlocks for a number of reasons. The holy bible say that one should not cut the hair on the head and the beard in the face. (probably a bad translation to english from my swedish bible)
The use of dreadlocks among rastafarian idrens and sistrens comes from the use of dreadlocks among Jomo Kenyattas freedom fighters in Kenya.
And another reason is that dreadlocks is a way to protest against the babylonian way of wearing the hair.

Peace

Actually the knotty dreads are a symbol of blackness and unity. To be black is beautiful as are all the colors of the spectrum. Rastafarism is well on the rite path. When your Rasta then there no more war! Ahmen to Jah

Maybe they cut their locks because with their advancing age they find it harder to keep them attached to their heads...

A Dread friend's locks have got so thin that he now wears a bandana to cover the baldhead part and lets the remaining few locks flow out the back. But he's clutching at straws I reckon!

I have to recognise that Gregory Isaacs looks better without dreads.

I cant follow Horace andy's dreads, i see photos with and without, seem that he's always cutting and growing, some people cut regularment his dreads

As has been said, there's the age thing. I used to have a ponytail that ran all the way down my back (never could get it into proper 'locks). Now I shave because otherwise I look like a thread-bare carpet. Vanity, I admit, but I never claimed to be perfect.

As to when I started shaving my head? When someone losing their hair to chemo needed the support. Donated the 'tail to Locks of Love (they get wigs to kids being treated for cancer).
