Yep. The Twelve Tribes Showcase Vol. 1 just sold for $700US on ebay. Is this the upper limit for a roots record, or have you seen one sell for more?

Ebay is revealing the TRUE value of rare records. It is smashing all the Record Collector Buyers Guide prices.

I've more or less stopped buying the top dollar stuff. I think it is better to get 10 x 10 bucks great records than one 100 buck record that is only rare but not actually even that good to listen to.

I've an MP3 of Class and Subject (as in that popsike link) and I really don't think it is the best of Hudson's work. It's only worth 1000 bucks if you have LOADS of money and nothing else to spend it on.

I remember one time, back in 2001 or 2002 seen an LP with some exclusive Bob Marley intervies (!!??)... yes, that's right... no songs, no music there.... just about 10 tracks containing a full interview... and it went out for more than U$ 1,000.00... that's the highest selling price of a record i've ever seen...

but even if i had this money, i just would never spend a thousand dollars in an LP with no music, no matter how rare it may be.... i wouldn't even spend this much on keith hudson's class & subject, to me not among his best works also... and i also think $700 is too much to pay for only one record, but maybe if i had nuff money to spend on records i'd buy this one .... :)

blessings,

i.e. this month of december i've spent almost $700.00 on records, but i did get LOTS of great records, plenty of them, some as good as this 12 tribes showcase (as good, not as rare!), so if i have 2 hundred, 5 hundred or a thousand, i'd never spend on one single record, but in many records... i'd only buy a $700 record if, besides that, i could spend MUCH more than this $700 on other records...

It´s jsut what the people make of it. I`ve often bought some more expensive records and was excited how good they should be.
I expected so much - and was disappointed when listening to them.
