Can anyone tell me who sang the reggae version of the spinners 'whenever you call me i'll be there' which was also released by Darryl Hall and John Oates. I heard this tune back in the 90's but cant remember the artist.
Would be happy if someone could help.

I think the artist you're looking for is Otis Gayle. Good luck with tracking it down, I've been after his version of What You Won't Do For Love since 1983 without success to date!

I'll Be Around (with it's version) is by Otis Gayle on Studio One 7".
This magic track (minus version) is also on two compilations:

Two other great songs on that rhythm, again from Studio One:
Caroline / Frankie Paul (7")
We Need Love / Johnny Osbourne (Truths & Rights LP)
