Well I think Reggae Artists aren't really innocent
on creating those stereotypes regarding how many reggae tracks are about the many advantages of smoking the good old sensimilia. ;-)

I'm more worried that there are lots of youth who think Matisyahu, Sean Paul, or Midnite are the pinnacle of reggae.

The most annoying stereotype I come across is when people say something retarded in fake patois when they hear I like reggae...you know, a statement which always ends in "Mon"...and then laugh like they were the first to ever think about doing it.

Thats exactly what im talking about tingjunkie

I hate that sterotype about everything to do with reggae ending in "Mon", it pisses me off. - sorry bout the language.

I to, also the view that "New" dancehall artsits like sean paul and vybz kartel arew the pinnical and top a top of di reggae scene

People need to acknowledge the reggae/rocksteady/Ska//mento FOUNDATION

Respect

The only solution for reggae fans is to prove the misconceptions wrong...live upright and avoid falling into the sterotypes.

I think reggae movement have two paradoxical tendencies: the firts concerned about reggae as a struggle and fierce music, black thing and jah faith. But the other tendencies, criticized in this forum (I agree with dis critics) is reggae as a pop manifestation, the "mon" thing, the "dancehall homofobic thing" and all of that...
Sorry for my bad english...but Im sure you know what I mean...
