Pre-delay on snare drums...

Greetings!

Just a studio information cause I've just spoken with a reggae sound engineer recently... that cleared an old question we had with anbessa and other guys...

How is made the pre-delay effect on snare drum... Its so effective on dubs, you feel like hearing the drumstick in the air, before it hit the snae on the ONE DROP... And it make a dub 10x harder...

So... always wondered how it was possible with analogic effects to have an echo before the shot...

The answer is that you put a delay of a little less than 4 counts... so that the echo of first one drop is right before the next one drop... And you only modificate the sound with chorus and other analogic effects to make the "air-stick" impression...

Sorry my mother tongue isnt english and its getting hard to share technical explanations... Hope at least a few could understand...
