Roots Archives Forum

Hello friends,

after a long work, the new features on Roots Archives will soon be ready. We'll probably launch a beta version of the new Roots Archives first so that we can check if everything works OK, probably in a month (but we never manage to finish the work on the deadlines, so no date 100 % sure)

here are the new features :

- reviews on albums
- music categories
- albums categories
- a smarter way to present the musician & technicians roles
- a smarter way to present unknown recording dates (ie: early 70s or late 70s rather than 197X)
- tabs browsing on heavy pages
- a general login for the whole website rather than having to use the forum one (will be helpful to post reviews)

if you want to write reviews, please send me a private message first, i'll send you an email address. it would be nice to have some reviews ready before we launch this section.

we need some writers to help us defining categories (ie : what is dub music, when appeared the first dubs songs, who made them, etc ...).. nothing has be done yet. we'll launch a forum dedicated to this where people can work together.

Why not turn the whole site to a wiki? A reggae wiki is very needed and R-A's have a very good foundation for this.

It's good to know that the site makes progress.

Hi Seb I would like give you my personal experience in reggae music scene, like a historical and discographical of reggae albums and good rarities.
When you start the new data base in beta version please advice me so I start to help you and all roots addict in the world reggae planet ok?.

Cant wait till that dub forum comes out! I would like to help with the history of dub indeed.

The Story of dub is already writ down over and over again.
Clean up mistake in the Archive like Roger Lewis and Fatman produtions on the same page. etc etc.

A login just to browse Archives would not be good

I hope your "update" won't ruin the charm of your site like many sites managed to do with so-called progress, just look at what happened to versionist.com, there's all kind of useless new features and it looks aweful, please don't make the same mistake.

as a non-stop collector there are days when I use roots archives every 15 minutes. Having to login each time would be a pain.
