Ijahman: question on Hail I Hymn

Dear all.
Recently I bought Ijahman's first album (on CD).
(with help from this forum).
When listening to the CD, it looks as if it is not the same as I heard it on record many years ago.
E.g., in 'Jah heavy load', it looks as if a horn instrument was added (and it doesn't sound good).
In 'Jah is no secret' I think he starts to sing in a different tone (than I have in my memory).
Am I hallucinating or did he change things?
Thanks for your response,
Jan

Hi Jan
Is it on Island or Tree Roots?

It's a Tree Roots record.
I also bought 'Are We a Warrior' and this one is on Island.
Are there differeces between the two labels??
Cheers,
Jan

Hi Jan
I have the Island CD and used to have it on vinyl back in the day. I am pretty sure they sound the same, but will listen to it on the way home to make sure.

On the 2004 Haile I Hymn reissue, there are some instruments overdubbed to the mix : horns (or horn-sounding keyboard) and a more proeminent acoustic guitar). Guitar's ok, but horns stink...

There's a re-issue on Island, Japan which collects both "Hail I Hymn" and "We Are A Warrior" releases. Nice and affordable.
