All those dvd's were taped by Brazilian tv broadcasters. Quality and Production is on a profesional label. I personally own a dvd from Burning Spear Live in Peru......Great show

Okay, I have to hear Midnite, everyone is raving about it. Those Abbysinians and Gregory Isaacs DVDs sound very interesting too.

About piracy--I don't really know how to weigh in, but I bought or was sent a whole lot of stuff over the years, and taped a few live shows too that people want. The Deadheads in the US trade reggae like mad, but only trade. Selling copied (pirated) stuff is definately not kosher. Plus, musicians with their own CDs give a lot of them away, a whole LOT. Could this be a karmic dues-paying for trading CD copies of shows, records, or other CD's? If someone copies our band's CD, and sells it, they'd be in the wrong. If they copy and give it to a friend, that's OK. I found out that one of my old radio shows was being sold as a CD, and really didn't know what to think or do. So I did nothing.

BOOTLEG or PIRATE CDs/Dvds of live events are not a bad thing
if they are not FIRST available commercially.
They can in fact increase sales for artist other recorded material.
Some artist have even been known to BOOTLEG their own music FRANK ZAPPA did !!!!

Tough one this one - as an artist and a listener, I am torn.
I download mp3's and I buy stuff. If it isn't released any other way, I'm not against the odd bootleg. Pirating released stuff is a bit different. I don't have any sympathy for big labels - they work from marble lined plush offices in Kensington and are not short of a penny or two! They have earnt literally thousands from me alone in the last 30 years!
However, struggling artists such as myself could do with being paid!
Having said that, I regularly send out my own stuff for free - I'm more interested in sharing what I do than making money from it - but I do have to eat!
