record dealings, JA style

a JA guy hates to see you cream his set, so you always put the record you want most near the bottom of your heap, and when you do first encounter it, you never take time to examine it as if its something noteworthy, and when time come to leave, always make the offer, do not EVER ask how much you want? When the controller leafs the stack, he'll pause at your one most wanted shot and say, "I man no sell dis, dis one too ruff," and you tell him it's only criss cuz it never played. He'll put it back in the stack for sure.

and to follow up, I think it's true no matter where you are, even if you're making a "buy it now/ or best offer" on ebay, better not to ask first but to go ahead and make that offer. I've had very good luck on some ebay transactions by offering 50% of the buy it now price but on 2 or more items from the same seller.
the whole ebay strategy thing is fascinating. a seller's buy it now item often founders at a price below that which an identical item was bid up to and sold within the same week, and yeah, not all things can be equal regarding each sale/ seller/ location, etc., but I think many guys do want the excitement of the bidding process rather than to walk uncontested with a buy it now item.
any sociologists out there that can explain this?
