Who sang original vocal version of I Roy's "Who is the man"?

on the cd notes of "Roots Techniques" it just says the original tape is lost without mentioning anything else about it.
Anyone who knows?

if the tapes are lost in the vaults how come i got the donovan d who is the man on a repress techniques 7 from the 90's? Maybe he lost the tape since then!
ha ha.. never seen the original of this 7 by the way..
