Hi

Can anyone give me the heads-up on this CD - http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3073

Is, for example, the track "Going Down The Drain" the vocal version of Prince Jammy's "Downtown Shanghai Rock"?

Any feedback gratefully accepted.

Thanks.

I think most of (all ?) the tunes are Linval Thompson productions...

Most of the tunes are heavyweight roots killer, anyway !

I dont have this LP but I have read great reviews about it. It contains some seriousley heavy Al Campbell pieces. I recall seeing it available everywhere at one stage but it's not so easy to find on (LP format that is) these days.

Hi Lion

Thanks for that. I thought that might be the case. I'll look for it on vinyl.

Yes, wonderful music but different sources were used for the music so sound is not consistent.. but a great way to get these tunes together for a good price! A great selection of some of Al Campbell's heaviest work for various producers (mostly Phil Pratt though)

Hi mashdown45

Thanks for info. Is that the case on the vinyl as well then?

The vinyl is what I've heard - It was about 5 years ago though - I'm trying to remember whether it had all those tunes on it though or if some of those are only on the cd! 20 tracks is much too much for an LP (music wouldn't be able to be too loud)- some of those tracks I guess would be bonus tracks on the cd - If you're not bothered about the format, maybe the cd would be best value
