It's all to do with dates.

Why the magical date of stopping the Roots Archives @ 1985, is it because of Sleng Teng? There are so many more great artists and albums after 1985, it's too bad there not all included here under the giant umbrella.

Yami Bolo is a great singer, I've never had the chance to see him live I've missed out on the occasion over the last couple of years.

Favorite Bolo songs:

Gun War, Glock War
Youthman Promotions
Jah Made Them All
Curly Locks
Wisdom Cry
Still Searching
Boogie On Reggae Woman
Puppet Master
When A Man's In love
Isn't She Lovely
Non Stop Loving
Put Down The Weapon
Cool & Easy
Just Us Two

I've seen Yami Bolo live, and it was the worst show I've ever been to. It's the only show I've ever walked out on in my life. This was all because of how drunk he was. He was soo drunk that he couldn't even play the songs right. He was stumbling all over the stage, and he started playing songs that weren't on the set list, and the band didn't know these songs. It was horrible. It was just a bad first impression for me, but this is just all my opinion.

Wadada Lion; My guess is that they had to draw the line somewhere since a project like this can quickly become to big to handle ... and if they're enjoying reggae from '85 and backwards more than the stuff coming after then I guess it was easy for them to decide what years to cover. Who knows, in the future when they've covered a majority of the '85 and back albums they perhaps will widen the parameters a bit more.

Jah Rumble; Hehehe, what can you expect from an artist that is depicted with a beer bottle in his hands when approximately 10 years old in Beth Lessers classic pictures from Reggae Quarterly :)

Yami Bolo is an artist I've always rated very much. I'm sad to hear that he couldn't handle his live performance more professionally.

Yo IrieMystic that is the same exact show I was talking about. It was at club caribe. Do you remember how drunk he was? Worst show i've ever seen.

The line is indeed drawn at 1985 because that's the date that marks the end of the 'Golden Years' of reggae, when things went digital.

If you want a digital reggae database, then perhaps you oughta start one!
