If roots archives also listed 45's. I know, it's near impossible, but I just wanted to make this little suggestion.

You can get the 45s list from the roots knotty roots database. It is indeed a mammoth task that those guys at RKR have been working on for years.

Even listing the LPs from this particular genre of music, Reggae, is a big enough task.

I give thanks for the efforts of Roots Archives for tackling that task and producing such a great database.

This database is the business. I am constantly in awe of it.

I probably refer to it almost daily as I try and sort the good from the bad and ugly in my ongoing collecting mania.

There's only one thing I would like added. A little button on each database entry that allows you to click it if you have that particular pressing of that particular record. It then modifies a personal database that catalogs your collection.

If you have collected lots of records and want to catalog them, the job is virtually impossible unless you have a private secretary or a whole bunch of time on your hands (I have neither!).

This would be so very cool and I'd be willing to PAY for it!

Hi !
Leggo, perhaps you should try Discogs.com, If you don't know, this site is community based records database.

By he time, there are not a lot of reggae LPs or singles in it(Discogs was at first electronic music only , reggae genre is not very old ), but me and some others are trying to make it grow day after day ...

The real cool thing in Discogs is what you mentionned : You can manage your collection & your wantlist, export them to excel and share (or not) with other users !

Here are some examples of records I've submited to Discogs :
http://www.discogs.com/release/844660
http://www.discogs.com/release/965685

Has you can see, it is possible to add things like runout grooves, notes, you can also rate records etc ....

A bit complicated but really cool ! (and free)

This will never replace da king Roots archives, but it is excellent when your collection is not only reggae !

So if you want more infos on that or any help, don't hesitate ! Also, if you think it is a good website, don't hesistate to contibute !

cheers !
