Anybody hear the United Sounds 12" with Sons of David -"Chance of a lifetime" // Capital Letters - "crazy love" ???
Released 1987, the Capital Letters tune, produced and sung by wizard, sounds like the music track was all done on the keys....just kind of an okay tune to me (compared to thier previous releases). It is definitely not the full 8 piece band of members as before. But the Sons of David tune is pretty nice. need help though, SOD tune sounds an awful lot like the lead singer from I&I (soundoff records), so any insight on the group Sons of David would be much appreciated They don't sound anything like the harmony vocalists Sons of Jah, though thier group names are similar.
Does anybody know if there is a connection between Capital letters/wizard & SOD? I ask because it sounds like Wizard may be doing the keys overdub on the Sons of David tune.
Thanks in advance. Adambom

Hi Adambom
I've just been in contact with Teacher (indirectly). I could ask him if you like. He does appear to be still in contact with Wizard. Can't guarantee I'll get a response though.

Feedback from Mackadub;
"Greetings Simon, sorry for the delay in responce to you mail. First I must let you know that I was the original Bass player for the Sons of David, although I had left to work as a session musician at Ariwa studio and other studios in London, by the time they recorded that particular track. 'Crazy love' was more of a digital recorded track (mainly keyboards and drum machine) sung by Teacher. 'Chance of a Life time' by Sons of David lead vocals by Ray and yes the keyboard over dubs by Wizard. The connection between Capital Letters and Sons Of David is that SOD was formed when things where getting quiet for CL. Musicians wise was like myself who use to play Rythm Guits for CL went on to play Bass guits for SOD, Teacher went on to play lead guits for SOD, the same drummer at first (the Dude) for both bands. All of us as musicians come from the same area so it was just a case of good musicians comming together and playing good music. By the way it was the same nuclius used when I formed the 'Lionheart Rythm Section' the band who backed Macka' B and Aisha on their early European tours in the mid 80's. I hope that this information is of help to you, send me a link of the response when you put it up.
One love...............Mackadub"

Hi Mackadub,
Thanks for the feedback.
I think its great when the artist and musicians that were involved in making this great music take the time to pass on information and share their knowledge and experiences.
Because imo its all about the music which we wouldnt have if it wasnt for the people involves in tha making of it.
Many artists have passed away, but their are many more out their and it would be great to hear more from those guys.
Regards
Dave

6anbatte: nice work and thanks for retrieving/relaying that info.
MAckadub: I had a feeling Wizard had a part both songs on the afore mentioned SOD/CL 12". Just curious though, why credit the song to capital Letters if it wasn't actually the whole outfit?
some ideas; was it a marketing ploy-to attract an audience already familiar with the 'Letters' name? ...or... Is it because Wizard or Teacher holds/held some type of copyright on the group (CL) name?
Regardless, I am a fan of capital Letters, knowing that SOD is sort of an offshoot of CL, makes it clearer to me as to why I like it so much. I would love to hear of any other SOD releases if any body has any informations (maybe MAckadub knows).
MAckadub: one last question...who is Ray (lead singer of SOD) and what other stuff did he do?
Thanks for everybody's help. JAhadambom

Feedback from Mackadub;
"Greetings Simon, CL was formed long before Wizard joined, so even if he was not involved in the later projects, the band was still called CL as the original members were still there.
Thanks Mackadub"
