who is the original singers of "sattamasagana"

earth and stone or the abyssinians

i thought it was earth and stone cause it sounds so perfect and the revolutionaries are so powerful in that song at least i think.

I cant tell who exactly but i think no one of them, or the Abyssinians maybe...

As I remember, it was The Abyssians who recorded it for Coxone Dodd in the late sixties or the early seventies. He then refused to release it, so the group had to raise their own money to release the song.

I think it was recorded around the same time as the first Burning Spear albums (Presenting and Rocking Time).

'Sattamassagana' was first recorded in 1969 by the Abyssinians at Studio One. The song itself is based on 'Happy Land', the original b-side of Carlton and the Shoes' classic 'Love me forever' 7" from 1968, also for Coxsone Dodd.

oh ok becuase u have to remember that earth and stone were around the late 60's through the early 80's so i think it was earth and stone i personally feel like that song was made by them becuase it was so perfectly made way better than the abyssinians.

if you want the whole story :), go and check 'Tree of Satta' on Blood and Fire records from 2004.
Sorry , but Earth and Stone, though true roots artist, never came first in this.
