Barrington Levy's Shaolin Temple vs. Bounty Hunter

I purchased Auralux's Shaolin Temple from Ernie B's a while back and noticed that in the liner notes it stated that even though Bounty Hunter and Shaolin share the same tracks, the remixed Bounty Hunter is radically different and should be considered a different album.
Is this true?
I don't own Bounty Hunter but am considering buying the Bounty hunter/ Place Too Dark re-issue. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. While I'm at it, what's the difference between Place Too Dark and Doh Ray Me? Are they also different mixes of the same tunes?

Isnt it just on the same riddims?
If you like early barrington levy you should definetely check this out
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/727 . It's fantastic and alot of the riddims are "his own" i. e. he is the only one to ever use them. Underrated albums indeed!

Mixes are different indeed (I got the bounty hunter cd from creole and the auralux cd)
Shine Eye Girl is even on a different riddim.
I don't know the Bounty hunter/ Place Too Dark re-issue.

There is also "Prison Oval Rock" on Volcano if you want another (very good) LP from the Levy/Junjo collaboration. I like it a lot. Actually there was a lot's of Lp from barrington and produced by Junjo. It was really among the best output from the late 70's and early 80's.
The two Greensleeves ("Englishman" & "Robin Hood") set are very good one. "Englishman" opened a crucial area for Greensleeves as it was the first Junjo produced LP on the label and it opened a prolific colaboration between the label and the producer.
Otherwise the dub counterparts are also classics. Scientist & Jammy "Big Showdown" is the dub to more or less half "Englishman". Other tunes are also from Barrington Levy' "Shaolin Temple / Bounty Hunter". Scintist's "Heaveight Dub Champion" is the dub to "Robin Hood" minus the last tune on B side which is a dub to an unknown tune to me. By the way, anyone known the vocal countrepart to this tune?

Thank You All.
i went ahead and ordered the other disc. I agree with all the above comments and love everything Barrington put out up til Here i Come. I contacted Greensleeves not too long ago and learned that they will be re-releasing Robin Hood in a similar manner as Englishman (remastered, bonus tracks).
Anyone like Teach Me Culture? It's one of my favorites. Life Style and Poorman Style are good as well. Love the bass sound on Poorman Style.

I confer that Englishman and Robin Hood are indeed among the best vocal roots reggae records ever released.
Both LPs are 100% smash hits and the dub counterparts are milestones from the early 80s dub sound.
All four LPs strictly unmissable.

Regarding Do Me Ray,
It s a different album, but some riddims are on other albums:
I am positive Do me Ray is Fuss or Fight
I think that Butterfly is If you give to me (but diffrent mix)
I got this album after I bought the Jah Life CD version of Bounty Hunter, OK, but not the best Barrington by far
I agree that Teach me Culture is one of his best. It s one of my first Reggae CDs, and still one of favorites.
No one mentionned the Life Style LP, but I think it s amazing, especially 'Jah the Creator' and 'Making Tracks'. I got it on a dirt cheap CD (released by Dressed to Kill) on ebreggae called Jah the Creator, with as a bonus a version of 'you made me so very happy'. Not as good as Alton's own version (definetly one ofmy all times favourite), but still very enjoyable.
Cheers

I love Life Style, too, Rastafab. I bought the Making Tracks version on Rhino. The album tracks are great but the dub versions still baffle me to this day. They're not even remotely the ridims from the album and include samples from Milli Vanilli songs with horrible 80s synths and bad drum samples evrywhere. I was tempted to buy the Lifestyle re-issue just to keep myself from having to push the skip button when the "versions" come up on this disc. Worst version tracks I've ever heard (or hope to ever hear). Does anyone know where these atrocities came from and if they have any remote connection to Mr. Levy (remember i haven't listened to him post 1985)?
