Anti-patois forum?

Please let me know now to avoid future quarrels, if the general view here is against patois dialect.
I was actaully banned from a touristy NEGRIL website for writing in this form.
I thought a simple "please do not use patois on this board" would have been adequate, banning was a bit extreme in my opinion.
Thx for respectful replies on this inquiry.
So far I have observed this is a vegan-reggae forum. LOL....so it goes.

Please express yourself in your own way, any dialect you want!
The thing is, can people understand it, interpret it the right way. But eg on these RA-forums people helped a lot already. The real patois is rather 'local', and if it's used world-wide, it has the tendency to change somewhat.
(I also use some patois words (not to every-one likings) out of admire the reggae-/JA-music)
Ites, gold and greetings,
rnld

I notice a few of your posts include comments about patois and the forum. I wouldn't get too caught up in it. If somebody rebuked you on your use of patois here or whatever, just take it as one person's comments and don't try to get everyone else caught up in the drama.
Otherwise, this is a funny post!

if you speak patois in real life, by all means should you be allowed to type patois, if you don't it's more than just a bit silly to type in patois

I try to write in a little more standard form than I speak. Otherwise about every third or fourth word would be "like, dude" and I think I've already made it clear I'm from California. Like, who would want to wade through all that, dude?

Patois?
I can't see that you c'yan avoid a bit of it here and there - but as Fat Eyes says, if you don't normally talk it, then typing it is a bit pseudo.
English?
English is the Language of the forum to keep some order. The mods could have chosen Mandarin but chose English as it was the one language all of them can speak.
More importantly, they must have realised that the natural English speaking world is particularly crap at languages. Although I have studied other languages, I can't hold much of a conversation in any of them, so I'm glad we're talking English here!
Spanish?
Sure, why not? But only on Roots-Archivos.es - but not on here - it would get messy.
Dialect?
Like James says, I too try to keep many local colloquialisms out of my banter otherwise many readers would just Botany Bay as they wouldn't have a Tube of Glue about what I am Rabbit and Porking about.

Glad your not patois - HATERS....LOL...anyway, like I responded, I am caught between two worlds and from time to time I may write "dweet" for do it (Burning Spear tune "Mek we dweet"...so as far as completley stopping, that would be hard since many tunes/lyrics are patois.
I spend so much time in JA, that I come back needing to THINK about driving on the right hand side of the road which does not apply to people in Europe....
I speak patois to someone Jamaican face to face in converstation, "dem tink it funny a white ooman chat dat way"....likkle more and respect always~
Leggo, please lets not re-hash my name please, that argument is dead and buried, Leave it that way...seen?
