Irie....
One question: Is the dvd with Dennis any good? I mean... is the quality in picture and sound top-notch?
Or maybe... can u recommend some other dvd´s with Mr.Brown?
What dem reggae-experts say?

Very nice show! ...and cheap to find as well.
I also love Inseparable show from '80s. Big people music for sure, but what a show! And it also contains some nice guests appearances (Freddie McGregor, Gregory, John Holt).

Thanx for the link capp. And thanx for the knowledge....
But is the dvd in the same quality as Bob Marleys - Live at the Rainbox? Well... that dvd is in perfect condition. Awesome picture, and the sound..... wow! DTS and dolby digital 5.1!
I mean the two concerts are from the same period, late 70s, early 80s. Have they put as much effort in to the production of the Dennis-dvd also?

Montreux is my home town. The show took place in the Montreux Jazz festival, held every year since 1967 during the first 2 weeks of july. That night in 1979 was the first reggae night in the festival's history, and the first reggae shows ever in western french-speaking Switzerland. There were three artists/bands that night : Steel Pulse, Peter Tosh (with Sly, Robbie, the Tamlins...) and Dennis Brown (with Lloyd Parks's We the people band, including Chinna). I know many people who were there, but not me, unfortunately.... My parents didn't allow me to go, just because I was 2 years old...
And yes, it's a WICKED live album, imho...

Its a must have dvd.In terms of picture and sound quality its not bad at all but its not dts or 5.1. My critic with regards to Live at Rainbow dvd is that the cameramen did not cover enough the other musicians e.g the drummer (late calton Barret),pecussionist(Seeco Peterson) and others. Thou superb 5.1 quality sound.
You will find that Live in Montreux do cover every musician and further to that Denis introduced all the musicians allowing them some time to express themselves instrumentally. For me I would rate it as moderate compared to other reggae recordings I came up across. My further observation in the Live in Montreux dvd is a full band including the brass section which you wont find in the Live at Rainbow dvd.
I hope that will help.

Thanx for all di advice mi bredrens!
One more question: It seems to be alot of different dvd-versions out in di shops. Well, diff covers anyway.
One is cheaper but includes a cd. Another is just the dvd but costs more! Maybe the quality in picture and sounds differs?
And yeah mdungu... all focus on Bob,huh?
But still.... "Heathen"!! Wow! If u want to explain to someone about the greatness in live-music in general, and live-reggae in particular, dis ya tune is the ultimate proof! When the bass-line kicks in in the middle of the song!! Bob goes in to a trance and dances away! Wow, thats it!.... And I wish I was there at the Rainbow at that particular moment!
Hmm... got myself carried away for a moment, huh?
