I and I think that di best roots band in Spanish are "Los Cafres", then Cultura Profética and Pablito Molina came near....In Brazil Check Tribo de Jah and Cidade Negra, specially his early recordings...And in Venezuela never forget di Jah Bafana band, strictly roots music !!
Greetings from Caracas

For spanish roots "Gondwana" comes to mind, they are a real roots and culture band with very nice melodies. I have only a few cuts by Los Cafres and I also like the cuts I heard.

mmm Los Pericos <--- not roots band. Only a few tracks are. The rest is a mix of diferent styles inclouding non-reggae, latin, dancehall. Don't recommend it.
Another great band: Filosofía (Naturalístico) from Puerto Rico think so.

I Agree with roots & Culture. Los Pericos are not roots...
Filosofía & Cultura Profética are joining in a free concert here in PR this friday. (Nov. 18)
and there are rumors that they want to record it for a live cd.
Nuff Respect
