i wanted to get the opinions of you members about who is the top ska producer of all skadom, in other words more of a delegate in what they've been producing and involvement.
this question was brought forth to me by MidniteSelekta for his curiousity.
Coxsone Dodd
Duke Reid
Prince Buster
King Edwards
The Yapp Brothers

that would be very difficult for me...
I would say coxsone dodd... no coxsone dood no skatalites
but justin yap produced some masterpieces...
and prince buster is a major one too
really to difficult for me

Coxsone and Duke Reid of course are true greats!
Upsetter cut his teeth producing Ska at Studio One, so you should include him.
Prince Buster is also important - stories credit him with the invention of the Ska beat during an early session financed by Duke Reid.
Of course, you mustn't forget Byron Lee or his predecessor Edward Seaga - who ran WIRL records in the 60's before selling up to Byron Lee and later becoming Prime Minister!
