**Lee “Scratch” Perry** is one of the most important musical figures of the 20th Century and a unique entity whose works have forever changed the way we think about recorded sound. Perry is rightly hailed as a true originator through the sonic innovations he pioneered at his legendary Black Ark studio during the late 1970s. However, few have heard the incredible first set of recordings he made in the ska years at Studio One during the early to mid 1960s. We are particularly pleased to now present Chicken Scratch Deluxe Edition with a number of bonus tracks from the same era and, for the first time on CD, the original single mixes of 13 of these ska scorchers.

Hey man, this was MY idea! ;) I have been talking about releasing more of Scratch's Studio One material for years and e-mailed Chris Wilson at Heartbeat directly about this sometime last year.

The first cd/lp Chicken Scractch is still available.
Only 4 tracks bonus there are more than 30 7" by Lee Perry Studio One.
Chris Wilson goes Trojan style it's a shame.

Only 2 very good albums this year by HB Heptones & Gladiators.

To be fair to Chris/Heartbeat, they're not claiming this as a new title, just the "Deluxe Edition". One of the biggest knocks on the original release of "Chicken Scratch" was that Coxsone gave them overdubbed versions of the tracks, so synthdrums were very prominent in the mix. This release will rectify this. Now that Coxsone is gone the Dodd family seems much more willing to allow Heartbeat to release what they want to.

I have the album but hear no synthdrums Reggaefire.
I'm not a big ska fan.

You don't hear them? They are there alright, right from the first track ("Please Don't Go"), they are also very prominent "By Saint Peter" and "Gruma",
