Irie Easy....

I have an Iriver-mediaplayer that I plug in to my stereo, and then the mediaplayer record the records, and convert to mp3 directly.

I bet there is much much better alternatives because I can only get 128kbps in quality.....

I recomend Adobe Audition 1.5. You can change the bit rate & sample rate to anything you'd like, and you can filter out any noises you want to reject, and even mess with the EQ. Cool Edit is the older version which you may be able to find for free. I bet you could link your turntable with your soundcard by getting an adaptor to go from RCA plugs to 1/8" or just wire them yourself. Your soundcard will have a mic in and/or a line in or two.

You really shouldn't go under 256kbps, it sounds awful. 256kbps or higher, I prefer 320kbps, is really necessary for the sound quality, especially in Reggae.

64kbps does ok for computer speakers (some Net radio stations actually broadcast at 32!), but Survival is right, if you are playing over hi-fi or good headphones then you need as high a bit rate as possible.

It'll still sound awful compared to vinyl though even at 320 :D
