I currently am without a Turtable, and have been listening to music on my tv set through my dvd player for several months now, and now that I am sick and tired of it I have decided to invest on a quality system once and for all, any suggestions, I am looking to spend a good amount of money so don't be shy, but remember this will be in my home, not a ampitheatre.

you go from listening to music through tv speakers to a 10,000 sound system?
the fact that you are thinking about spending that much is horrendous, it shouldnt cost anywhere close to that, i dont know what you are looking to set up maybe a stage show?

You want to listen to vinyl, or CDs, or both?

No problem . If you wanan spend that amount of money you are welcome. Different strokes for different folks. First- what is it you are looking for ? Do you want a Soundsystem or Audio Phile High End ? 2 Turntables and a mixer or 1 High End TT / Pre Amp and Mono Blocks with Speakers ? Check out a german brand called T+A if you are into High End. They have everything you might need.
If you prefer a Sound System get Technics and a decent Mixer. Plus Monitor Boxes with inbuilt amps.
If you buy speakers - best listen to a few different Boxes in a shop , you willl immediately find the one that sounds best for your ears. Good luck and try before you buy...

hey santana: "If you buy speakers - best listen to a few different Boxes in a shop , you willl immediately find the one that sounds best for your ears."
not a good advice imo the fact alone that you listen them in their shop gives a distorted image... what you hear is not exactly what you get unless your home has the same spacedimensions&corners etc as that shop
advisable would be is to check the technical specifications and compair

To get the best from your system each component should be of the same value plus 10% for cables. Buy some hifi magazines to get an idea of what's available (and how the reviewers rate them). N.B. not all reviews are unbiased.
www.audioreview.com relies on reviews from owners and is a good source. Then visit some dealers for auditions - good dealers will give you a home demo and help with set up and positioning speakers etc. Most dealers also sell ex-demo kit at a hefty discount (30-50 per cent compared to new) which is worth considering. In the U.S. and Canada
www.audiogon.com is excellent for new and second hand hifi.

I want be able to play all formats, and also be able to transfer from Vinyl to Cd and from casette to CD, I would also want full control of the music in different rooms of the house, and if it's possible I would like to hook a sound board up through it so that I can have a mini recording studio.......
Santana-
I am looking for High End equipment.
Jazzy J -
I am not sure how much this is gonna cost me, but I know it's going to be the best that I can afford, and if it happens to get as high as $10'000, then so be it.
