A song I've heard for over 20 yrs. and I still don't know what he says:

If what the backup singers are saying, along with the main lyric, go together to make one sentence, then it sounds to me like "Just love was my great sin." The backup vocals provide the "Just love" part, and the main lyric comes up from below it with "whoa, was my great sin." But that's just how it sounds to me.

I searched for "peter tosh why must i cry lyrics" and got several versions easily. The alternate I liked best was "Hope was my great sin." No idea what the real answer is now...
