got this clocktower cd for £3 from dub vendor. found it a very enjoyable set but can't help thinking I've heard some of these tracks before. [e.g one of the tracks is on scientists dub from the ghetto (unless it is a slightly different mix?)]. also bullwackies studio is credited on the sleeve. does anyone have the history to this album because I can't find anything on the net etc. Many thanks

I've always thought it was the *companion* album to;
[cover=2071,2443]
Don't know if that helps or hinders!

... as i understand it King Of Dub is more of a Jammy and/or Scientist affair, whilst Rockers Almighty is King Tubby in full swing ...

Incidentally, this is the "King of Dub" album I assumed we were referring to;

Wicked LP. Scientist and Jammy had nothing to do with these recordings though. These are all Tubby Mixes. Tracks 4 & 5 are listed as clock tower mixes, so I wonder if these tracks were re-mixed later. Anyone Know?

yeah thats the one 6anbatte
sounds like people have different ideas on it but it is definitely a very strong selection. the last track is crucial. Whats the bullwackie connection though?

Prince Douglas was involved in mixing at Wackies on the other album I mentioned ("[Rockers Almighty...](
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2443)") so maybe the same is the case with "[Kings Of...](
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/316)".
I *am* just guessing here and, consequently, open to being corrected.

The riddims (mastertape) are from Bunny Lee.

From the liner notes;
"Produced by Brad Osborne
All rhythm tracks by Bunny Lee
Recorded at Channel One
Edited by Brad Osborne and Douglas Levy (aka Prince Douglas) at **Bullwackie Studio**
Mixed at King Tubbys, Shep Recording Studio NY, Joe Gibbs Recording Studio."
So there's the Bullwackie connection.

Brad Osbourne was the man behind Clocktower( NYC, Bronx) until he passed away. According to PEOPLE FUNNY BOY, the Lee Perry bio, he tended to remix and release stuff without the artist's permission ie; SCRATH And COMPANY Chapter 1,
(Not uncommon in Reggae as we all know)
so this might go a small way of explaining the repeatition.
