A big old Hi-Fi.

Yes a 'biggish' old Hi-Fi is the closest to a gadget that I use as well.

Actually I just got myself an iPhone. At last I can listen to music when walking the streets. I couldn't do this before as I need to hear my phone ring so my old iPod hasn't done many miles. The iPhone cuts the music and plays the ringing tone to let you know the phone is ringing.

Yes, I know other phones can do this, but they are all awful!

At last there's a phone that humans can use, not just uber-geek-teens!

Thanks to Steve Jobs for that - if not for the crafty recessed headphone socket cynically designed to make you buy aftermarket phones specifically aimed at the iPhone.

The Apple iPhone was only launched in June 07 in the USA and just last month in the UK.

And it DOES have wi-fi!

Plus 8gb of space is plenty for me to keep enough music on for my outings.

An old iPod from 2005, 20 gigs with some cheap sony ear buds headphones.

@ home I listen to tunes from a laptop piped through a big subwoofer with satellite speakers.

It does the job. I haven't bothered listening to vinyl in a while. It's such a chore especially when you lack the cash for a proper set up.

When in the car CDs.

When walking the dog, 80 GB iPod, with 10,254 songs and about 37 GB left for more.

When in my home office or work office i-tunes loaded with reggae.

In my media room a decent stereo.

When in the shower I have a Sony shower CD player (makes singing in the shower that much more fun).

I forgot about the CD player in the garage that I drag all around the yard.

Like a lot of you I'm never too far my music.....

My Macbook blaring out leggo rockers hi-fi from the live365.com feed!

In the (old) car:

No CD player and the iPod sounded awful plugged into the tape slot with one of those converter jobs. So two or three very old cassette tapes. I don't have a tape deck in the house so I can't record any more! Lucky I don't use the car much at all.

At work:

When working from home, vinyl vinyl vinyl!

When working away from home - usually it's the Macbook and the radio feed - or sometimes nothing, no music at all - Aaaaargh! That's when I don't like to work!

Walking the streets:

In Bed:

An old Technics linear tracking deck hooked into the AV set up. They are very small so Laura let I get away with having one in the bedroom.

In the Lounge:

Another old Technics Linear deck - again, hooked into the AV.

In the Garden:

A dusty old Hi-fi rigged up to big old speakers poked out of the garden room door and blaring reggae for the appreciation of the rest of Lincoln as I plant herbs or catch the rays! The rabbits seem to like reggae too...

In Leggo's Lair:

BIG speakers. BIG amps, big pre-amp, little phone stage, BIG retro record deck. All sat on a home made hi-fi table!
Home made oak isolation spikes, big marble slab all on breeze blocks with a big stack of old mouse mats providing extra isolation!

When working in the dance:

Twin Technics SL1210 and a Technics mixer plugged into the sound system.

Yeah man, Reggae wherever I go!
