In search of great *extended version* dub albums only!

I really love extended-length dub. I'm looking for records that include nothing but 8 - 10 minute versions (as opposed to the usual 3-4 minute versions). So far I've discovered only one-- Nice Up the Dance: Studio One Discomixes. Can anyone recommend other such compilations? Or albums of this kind by individual artists?

You're referring to showcase albums;

There are several fine ones. These three are both easily available and fantastic;
Black Uhuru - Showcase (Guess Who's Coming to Dinner)
Gregory Isaacs - Showcase
Ini Kamoze - Showcase

alias wade.

Its not often you will find an album purely of 8-10 minute dub mixes only. I cant think of any off the top of my head.

The format that you are after would most certainly more often turn up on the version "B" side of 12" disco 45`s.

Most of, if not all the dub albums that I own have tracks that run somewhere between 3 & 4 minutes with the odd track coming in at 5-6 minutes maximum.

All the tracks that I have which run in at 8+ minutes are extended mixes of vocal followed by dub / vocal followed by DJ and dub "showcase style"

But if you come across any titles in the format you require then post them up as I would be interested to see what you find.

This is purely 7-, 8-, 9-minute long discomixes.

This is a good album but does it not include vocals.

It is not dubs only.

I'm confused now!

Like Rootsman I looked at the original question and saw it was a request for extended dub mixes only (ie not Discomixes with Vocal + Dub). But the one listed as the only example available - the 'Nice Up The Dance' CD - has vocals as well as dub on there and is presented in Showcase style. So what are we looking for wade; pure dub or a CD full of traditional Discomixes?

Yep, can't think of any 8-10 minute Dub Only releases - a few Discomix style albums are about though, like Haul & Pull Up Selecta.

There's a Scientist EP with extended Dubs - Step It Up Remixes... struggle, struggle, thinking of anything else ;o)

I make my own Dubs from existing Versions in mp3 format because I too like longer Dubs. Some of The Disciples EPs make excellent extended versions i.e. Africa Macka (12mins), Chant Of Freedom (16mins) and Return To Addis Ababa (12mins). I put together a killer version (at least I think so) of the Twinkle Brothers Jahoviah, adding Jahoviah In Dub Majesty, making it into a 16 minute opus :o)

Not much help in your search if your looking for Dub only releases, but if you enjoy joining tracks together you can certainly make some pretty kool home made compilations.

There is this one, all instrumental but not really dub

Nice album, very jazz infused and all tracks at the length you require.

Like I said before, I just cant think of anthing else in the format you request.
