These are both superb albums;

Kode 9 - "[Memories of the Future](http://www.amazon.co.uk/Memories-Future ... 659&sr=1-1)"

Burial -"[Burial](http://www.amazon.co.uk/Burial/dp/B000F ... 742&sr=1-2)"

Should be "Off Topic" though. :)

Just listened to some Kode 9 and Burial - thought that as a dub fan/musician and former techno fan/musician I would check out this dubstep stuff
If it is like this - forget it - give me proper dub any day!

Not sure who named it dubstep or why, but I definitely think it is a misnomer.
If you are listening to it whilst thinking you are going to get dub reggae then you should be listening to dub reggae not this.

The two, for me, aren't comparable.

It's like listening to modern R&B, but thinking that you are going to get 50's R&B. :D

Indeed 6anbatte - you hit the nail on the head here - so why didn't they come up with a new name, instead of stealing an old one?

Wouldn't mind, but in both cases mentioned, the new is way inferior to the original and (certainly in the case of modern R&B) could even be seen as an insult to the original!

well i dont know why you would think it would sound like old dub, when its called future dub or dubstep. You wouldnt listen to punk rock thinking you are going to get classic rock, would you?

come on now..

old dub is just that, OLD dub, sound been played for long enough, make way for the new generation grandpa...
